HDPE PLB Telecom Duct
Gamson HDPE PLB (Permanently Lubricated) Telecom Ducts are high-density polyethylene conduits specifically engineered for the underground installation of optical fiber cables (OFC).
The "PLB" designation refers to a specialized internal lining of solid lubricant (usually a silicon-based material) that is co-extruded during manufacturing. This inner layer significantly reduces the coefficient of friction, allowing long lengths of fiber optic cables to be blown or pulled through the duct with minimal effort and zero damage to the cable jacket.
Key Features
- Permanently Lubricated Inner Layer: The internal silicon coating is integral to the pipe, ensuring it doesn't wash away or dry out over time, facilitating easy cable replacement or upgrades decades later.
- Low Coefficient of Friction: Reduces the drag on cables during installation, enabling longer "blow" distances and reducing the number of manholes/access chambers required.
- Superior Crush Resistance: High-density construction allows the duct to withstand heavy soil loads and traffic vibrations when buried in urban or highway environments.
- Impact & Environmental Strength: Resistant to chemicals, moisture, and rodents, ensuring the fragile fiber optic cables remain protected from the elements.
- Color Coding for Easy Identification: Available in a wide spectrum of vibrant colors (Orange, Blue, Green, Yellow, etc.) to help technicians differentiate between various network providers or service types in a shared trench.
- Flexible Yet Tough: Can be easily coiled around underground obstacles without the need for specialized elbows or fittings.

Primary Applications
- Fiber to the Home (FTTH): The backbone of high-speed residential internet delivery networks.
- Long-Haul Telecom Networks: Connecting cities and states via cross-country fiber optic lines.
- Railways & Defense: Secure, underground communication lines for signaling and sensitive data transmission.
- Smart City Infrastructure: Housing cables for CCTV surveillance, traffic management systems, and public Wi-Fi.
- Data Centers: Interconnecting massive data hubs with high-bandwidth optical links.
- CATV Networks: Used by cable television providers for signal distribution.
Jointing & Accessories
To ensure a continuous, airtight path for cable blowing, Gamson PLB Ducts are used with specialized accessories:
- Plastic Couplers: Push-fit or threaded couplers that provide an airtight and watertight seal between duct ends.
- End Plugs: Used to seal the duct ends to prevent the entry of mud, water, or insects before the cable is installed.
- Cable Sealing Plug: Seals the space between the cable and the duct to prevent moisture entry.
- Compression Tee & Elbow: For creating branch connections or navigating sharp angles.
- Duct Rodder: A flexible rod used to pull cables or cleaning sponges through the duct.
- Duct Cutter: The Duct Cutter is a precision manual tool designed to provide perfectly square, burr-free cuts on HDPE pipes.
- Chamfering Tool: The Chamfering Tool is used to create a beveled edge on the outside of the duct end.
